I have been working on a model of the universe that uses S-1 geometry
(a circle) to describe the space-time aspects of our observable
universe. By the end of 2015 I completed a paper describing the model
in detail titled:
Visualizing space-time and null geodesics with co-moving S-1
coordinates in an expanding universe
The model gives visual insight into light cones, the cosmological horizon, Hubble sphere, redshift, time dilation, and the evolution of proper distance.
My goal at first was to present a visual diagram of the universe that could be displayed on a single page. A version of that diagram is shown in the upper right.
The geodesics associated with the observable universe are shown in diagram in lower right. These are unique geodesics for a universe expanding at a constant rate.
